Con artist operating in Emalhleni and surrounds

Thu, 21 January 2021, 8:38 AM - (1 month ago)

Name: Steven Gerald O' Neill
30/11/2020: Purchased truck batteries and accessories worth R6000.00 and promised to do an EFT. No EFT to this day. We have Whatsapp communication between the sales rep and Steven promising to come in and pay, on a daily basis for the last two months.
A similar incident involving the same Steven happened in 2014 with a different sales rep and on different premises. Batteries taken with the promise of an EFT.
We have been asking around and it appears that Steven has conned quite a few people. We have found a group of farmers and butchers who have been conned. They are actually coming to the shop this morning to discuss Steven.
The vehicle he is driving has not been paid for in full and the lady is struggling to get hold of him and her money.
We have opened up a case of theft against him with the local police, details as follows:
Case No: 261/12/2020 - Constable SC Mtshali.
We have the following info on Steven:
Steven Gerald O' Neill - 840614 5036 08 4
White Toyota Land Cruiser - JJ57TWGP
The attached Whatsapp screen grab, message number 1 is from Steven to our sales rep yesterday 3 Feb, morning.
